The garment sector in Cambodia is a major consumer of energy, accounting for approximately 10% of the country’s industrial energy consumption. Additionally, it is a significant emitter of greenhouse gases, with the Cambodian garment industry being responsible for approximately 3.8 million tons of CO2 equivalent emissions.
To address the environmental challenges caused by the consumption of energy, adopting sustainable energy solutions is essential. However, industry owners are not well aware of the existing market and can find it challenging to implement such initiatives. Developing an extensive list of existing Energy Service Providers (ESPs) would enable factories to access information on these services more easily and effectively.
Based on an energy service company market survey and a garment factory survey by the project team in 2021, followed by a revision in 2023, 130 companies have been listed as potential suppliers to the garment sector.
