Current situation on the use of rooftop solar power in Cambodia
Cambodia has successfully implemented the auction mechanism and direct negotiation mechanism to develop utility scale solar power for national grid system resulting in a lower electricity price from solar power than from any other electricity generation technologies. This has been helping to reduce the unit cost of electricity from the national power grid to all the electricity consumers in the national power grid. On contrary, few electricity consumers developed rooftop solar power for own use, but observed that the development of rooftop solar power of consumers so far has higher electricity price than that of national power grid.
